Residence & Dining Plans
Students are responsible for cancelling or deferring their York University residence applications and dining plans in the event of a deferral. If your deferral is approved, be sure to submit an Application Cancellation form and cancel your dining plan for any sessions(s) you will not be attending, to avoid accruing interest or unplanned charges.
Once your deferral is approved, York University will send you an official decision notification, with updates reflecting your new session to your offer letter(s) in MyFile. We strive to review and approve deferrals within 10 business days.
Students who are deferring from the current Fall session to next Fall will receive a decision in August. Your updated offer and updated letter(s) will be available through MyFile in October.
York University entrance scholarships are subject to change. Most scholarships and awards granted through an application process may be retained as part of your deferral and disbursed in a future entry term. Deferred scholarships will be subject to any conditions of the scholarship program in place for the session in which you begin your studies. To confirm whether you may keep your scholarship when deferring admission, connect with bursary@yorku.ca.
